Welcome Message.

Benvenuto! (Welcome!)

This month marks just over 1-year since my journey with weightloss, health, and fitness has started. I've decided to begin documenting the changes that I continue to experience as I lose weight, become more active, and try new things. During the past year I've gained a love and obsession for running, turbo kickoboxing, and yoga. I've run 1 5K, 1 12K, 9 Half Marathons, and 1 21-Miler in 4 states since October 2009... and I'm nowhere near finished!

Changing your life, though, can really sometimes be a very lonely experience. And this is where this journaling thing comes in: a public connection to what would otherwise be a private experience.

My plan is this: be honest. I'm going to be documenting the food I eat, the exercises I do, and all the other things that happen during this journey to help me succeed... and talk about how I overcome the failures that will inevitably occur as part of it.

I'm not giving myself an exact timeframe, just the ultimate goal of being where I want to be in the end.

So here I go... across the start line of the longest marathon of my life. Scared, but excited as hell! :)

Today's Challenge: Double-booked for dinner

Alright, so pretty much most Thursdays my family gets together for a family dinner night. It's pretty routine. We've been doing this for months now. BUT! Every week is the same... I don't find out until last minute that we will or will not be having dinner. SO! As I said, today was my nephew's 1-month birthday. And I made plans to go see him. I also made plans to go and see my friend's show play in the park. Free show, wide open space, totally do-able. And then Thursday afternoon comes around and I get a text from my stepmom that says, "Ang, you're coming to dinner right?" Oh boy. SO - rearrange the evening, cut out the show in the park, add in my family time, move up nephew time and we're in business.... EXCEPT by the time I'm going to make it to my dad's I will have shriveled up and died from starvation. SO - rearrange the evening again! Small dinner with the nephew, small dinner with the fam. PHew! I was SO INCREDIBLY FULL by the end of the night that I was just absolutely miserable. Luckily, the international space station was going to be viewable at 11:09pm for today only and my friends were on top of it. So I got to end the night hunting for a dark area to spot the space station. Do some walking, squatting, sitting, standing, etc to help everything digest. Man, I can't wait for this weekend to start to really get back into routine! Challenge: completed! I ate 2 low-cal small meals with each party I was meant to visit with and everyone, including me, was happy! :)
